Moat Scores and rankings

The Moat Score, Moat Strength ratings, and rankings are editorial judgments produced with a published rubric. They are subjective, may be wrong, and may change without notice. They measure how defensible we believe a company's competitive position is; they say nothing about the value of its stock. A high score is not a buy signal and a low score is not a sell signal.

Community scores are averages of ratings submitted by visitors. They are user-generated, unverified, and may not represent any informed view. We do not endorse them and may remove abusive or manipulated submissions.

No affiliation

MOATE is independent. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any company it covers. Company names, tickers, and logos are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used for identification and commentary only.

Accuracy

We try to get things right and correct errors when we find them, but information here is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Articles reflect the author's understanding at the time of publication and may become outdated. Where an article has been materially updated, an updated date is shown.

Positions

The author may hold positions in companies discussed on this site. Where a position is material to a specific article, it will be disclosed in that article.

Email terms

By entering your email address, ticking the consent box, and submitting the subscribe form, you agree to receive emails from moate.io. These may include new articles, Moat Score updates, and occasional announcements or promotional messages about MOATE and, where relevant, its partners or sponsors. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email or by contacting us; we will stop sending within the period the law requires. We record the time and source of your consent. We do not sell your email address.

Privacy

• Newsletter. Email addresses submitted through the subscribe form are stored on our server with the time of consent and the page you signed up from, and sent to our email provider (Beehiiv) to deliver the newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. See Email terms.
• Community scores. When you submit a Moat Score, we store your eight ratings, the company, and an anonymous identifier (a random token kept in your browser, or a one-way hash of your network address) used only to prevent duplicate votes and let you revise your own. We do not store your email or name with a vote.
• Analytics and cookies. This site does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies. Preferences you set (theme, text size, reduced motion) are stored in your browser only.
• Server logs. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, pages requested, browser) for security and debugging, retained for a limited period.

Your data: access and deletion

You can ask what we hold about you, or have it deleted, at any time.

• Community scores. Your votes are tied to an anonymous token in this browser. Delete all of them now:Delete my community scoresThis removes every score you submitted from this browser and forgets the token. If you voted from another browser or device, repeat there.
• Newsletter. Use the unsubscribe link in any email to stop receiving mail immediately. To have your address and consent record fully deleted from our server and our email provider, email contact@moate.io from the subscribed address; we will confirm deletion within 30 days.
• Everything else. Server logs are retained for a limited period and then discarded automatically. For any other request — access, correction, or deletion — email contact@moate.io.
